Growing notes

Grows to 1-1.5 metres. Space about 100-150cm apart. In flower May-Jul.

Toxic to pets

Yellow flag iris is harmful to people if eaten: the underground stems (rhizomes) are the most poisonous part and cause bad vomiting and diarrhoea, so do not let children handle cut pieces of root. Dogs and cats that eat any part, especially the rhizomes, get severe vomiting and diarrhoea. If a person eats any, get medical advice; if a pet does, ring your vet.
