Toxic to pets

Virginia creeper is harmful if eaten, to people and pets: the berries are poisonous and the leaves contain oxalates that irritate the mouth and cause sickness, and the plant can irritate skin. Wear gloves when pruning and keep the berries away from children and pets. If a person eats any or the skin reacts, get medical advice; if a pet chews it, contact a vet.
