Toxic to pets

St John's Wort is grown as an ornamental and its fruit is not for eating: it is rated low toxicity, but a person who eats a lot of it may get a mild stomach upset. Dogs, cats and horses that eat the plant can become painfully sensitive to sunlight, with sore skin. If a child eats a quantity, get medical advice; if a pet eats it, ring your vet and keep the animal out of strong sun.
