Toxic to pets

Poinsettia's milky sap is an irritant to skin and eyes, and the plant is harmful if eaten, though the effect is usually mild: wear gloves when cutting it and keep sap out of the eyes. Dogs and cats that chew it get an irritated mouth and sometimes vomiting. For a skin or eye reaction, or if a child eats it, get medical advice; if a pet chews it, ring your vet.
