Toxic to pets

Scarlet pimpernel can cause dermatitis in some people who handle it, so wear gloves when weeding it out and wash your hands afterwards. The seeds are slightly poisonous to some mammals, so stop pets eating the seed heads; no cases of human poisoning are known. For a skin reaction get medical advice; if a pet eats the seed heads, ring your vet.
