Toxic to pets
Pieris is harmful to people if eaten and our record rates it severe: the leaves contain grayanotoxins, and eating them can cause vomiting, weakness and heart problems, so keep children from chewing it. Dogs and cats are at the same risk, and even a few leaves can be dangerous. If a person eats any, get medical advice (call the emergency number if they are unwell); if a pet does, ring your vet straight away.
