Toxic to pets
Oakleaf hydrangea is a skin allergen: handling it, especially when cutting it back, can give some people a rash, so wear gloves and wash your hands afterwards. Dogs and cats that eat the leaves or flower heads can get vomiting and diarrhoea. If a skin reaction develops, get medical advice; if a pet eats the plant, ring your vet.
