Toxic to pets
Monkshood can be dangerous to people: every part is toxic if eaten, even in small amounts, and the poison can also pass through the skin, so wear gloves whenever you handle it, never plant it where children play, and wash your hands after touching it. Dogs and cats are at the same risk. If a person eats any or has handled it and feels unwell, call the emergency number or get medical advice; if a pet eats it, ring your vet straight away.
