Toxic to pets

Lace aloe was until recently classed as an aloe, and aloes are harmful to people if eaten: the bitter yellow latex just under the leaf skin causes stomach upset, so do not eat the leaves (the clear inner gel is not the problem). Dogs and cats that chew the leaves get vomiting, lethargy and diarrhoea. If a person eats the leaf, get medical advice; if a pet chews it, ring your vet.
