Safe around pets
Juniper berries are used in cooking in small amounts, but eating a quantity of the berries or foliage is harmful, and the foliage can irritate skin and bring on a rash in people who react to it. Wear gloves and long sleeves when clipping or handling it, and wash your hands afterwards. Do not eat the berries of an ornamental juniper: only Juniperus communis is the culinary one, and even that is used sparingly.
→ NHS 111 or your GP if skin or eyes react, or if any is eaten
