Toxic to pets
Ivy is harmful if eaten, to people and pets: the leaves and berries contain saponins that upset the stomach, and touching the plant can irritate the skin or cause an allergic rash. Wear gloves and long sleeves when cutting it back, and keep the berries away from children and pets. If a person eats any or the skin reacts, get medical advice; if a pet chews it, contact a vet.
