Toxic to pets
Hellebore is harmful if eaten, to people and pets, and its sap irritates the skin: all parts are poisonous, causing drooling, stomach pain and diarrhoea, and it can affect the heart. Wear gloves when cutting old leaves or flowers and keep pets from chewing the plant. If a person eats any or the skin reacts, get medical advice; if a pet chews it, contact a vet.
