Grows to 1.5-2.5 metres. Space about 100-150cm apart. In flower Jun-Jul.
Toxic to pets
The red berries of heavenly bamboo, and also the leaves and stems, release cyanide when chewed, so they are harmful to people and can be dangerous to cats and dogs, causing weakness, loss of co-ordination, seizures and breathing failure. Keep children and pets away from the berries. Get medical advice if a person has eaten any, and contact a vet straight away if an animal has.
