Growing notes

Grows to 2.5-4 metres. Space about 250-400cm apart. At its best in summer.

Toxic to pets

Fig sap makes skin sensitive to sunlight and can cause a painful skin reaction with blisters, so wear gloves and long sleeves when pruning or picking and wash off any sap at once. In dogs and cats the leaves and sap irritate the mouth and skin, causing drooling and sickness. If skin blisters, get medical advice; if a pet chews the plant, contact a vet.
