Toxic to pets

Cherry laurel can be dangerous: the leaves and berries contain cyanide-forming compounds and are harmful to people if eaten, causing sickness and stomach pain and occasionally more serious poisoning, so keep children from the berries and do not burn or shred the leaves in an enclosed space. Dogs and cats are at the same risk. If a person eats any, get medical advice (call the emergency number if they are unwell); if a pet does, ring your vet.
