Toxic to pets

All parts of broom are harmful to people if eaten, causing sickness and vomiting, and the seeds and pods are the parts a child is most likely to pick. Dogs and cats that eat it can be sick and vomit too, and contact can irritate skin. If a person eats any, get medical advice; for a pet, ring your vet.
