Safe around pets

Blood lily (Haemanthus) bulbs are ornamental and not meant to be eaten, though they are considered low in toxicity; a large amount may cause mild symptoms in a person or a pet. A whole bulb can also choke a pet or block its gut, so store bulbs out of reach and clear up after planting. Get medical advice if a child has eaten any, and ring your vet if a pet has swallowed a bulb.
