Toxic to pets

Every part of bleeding heart, flowers, leaves, roots, seeds and stems, is poisonous if eaten: it can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, trembling, staggering, convulsions and laboured breathing in a person or a pet, and repeated skin contact with the sap can irritate. Keep children and pets from picking or chewing it and wear gloves when cutting it back. Get medical advice if a person has swallowed any, and contact a vet if an animal has.
