Growing notes

Grows to 0.1-0.5 metres. Space about 10-50cm apart. In flower Apr-May.

Toxic to pets

Arum can be dangerous: every part is toxic to people if eaten, and the bright berries are what a child is most likely to pick; chewing burns the mouth and throat and can cause swelling, and the sap irritates skin and eyes, so wear gloves and keep children from the berries. Dogs and cats that chew it get the same burning mouth, drooling and sickness. If a person eats any, get medical advice (call the emergency number if the throat swells); if a pet does, ring your vet.
