Toxic to pets

Aloe vera leaves are harmful to people if eaten: the bitter yellow latex just under the leaf skin acts as a laxative and causes stomach upset, so do not eat the raw leaf. Dogs and cats that eat the leaves get sickness, diarrhoea and tiredness. If a person eats the leaf, get medical advice; if a pet does, ring your vet.
