Toxic to pets

Agave sap is a skin irritant: it can make skin sore and blistered, and the spined leaf tips can injure skin and eyes, so wear gloves and eye protection when handling or cutting it. Dogs and cats that chew the leaves can become unwell. For a skin reaction get medical advice; if a pet chews the plant, ring your vet.

→ NHS 111 or your GP for a person with a skin or eye reaction; your vet or the Animal PoisonLine for an animal
