Clematis Group 1 (early)

Clematis sap can irritate skin, so wear gloves. Vigorous types like montana often climb high into trees or over walls, so use a stable, well-footed ladder and do not overreach. Make clean cuts with sharp, clean tools, as every cut is a wound that can let disease in.
